Dracula: Origin Hints

How can I weigh out one gold deben?

  • 1 of 16: The first thing you need to do is find a place for your scale.
  • 2 of 16: Look around the room and Van Helsing will point out the proper place.
  • 3 of 16: It's on the small chest to the left of the whirlpool.
  • 4 of 16: You will also need to collect the small copper deben on the right side of the room before you can solve the puzzle.
  • 5 of 16: Place the scale on the chest, and all of the required items will be shown onscreen.
  • 6 of 16: You need to get the value of a gold deben, which the museum director told you was 13.6 grams.
  • 7 of 16: Play around with the items in either side of the scale until you find the weight.
  • 8 of 16: The weight of the two copper debens is 54.6 grams.
  • 9 of 16: And, the weight of the stylus is 41 grams.
  • 10 of 16: The difference between the two is 13.6 grams -- exactly what we need!
  • 11 of 16: Now you need to make that amount in gold dust.
  • 12 of 16: The side with the stylus weighs less. Put gold into that side until the two sides are evenly weighed.
  • 13 of 16: Then, the weight of the gold in that side will be 13.6 grams.
  • 14 of 16: It will take three scoops of the dust to make the required weight.
  • 15 of 16: After you have done this, the bowl on the bottom-right will become usable.
  • 16 of 16: Scoop the gold from the scale into the bowl to take the 13.6 grams.
