Dracula: Origin Hints

How do I unlock the silver grating to the crypt?

  • 1 of 14: This is a very confusing-looking puzzle with a very strange solution, but once you know what that solution is, it's very easy.
  • 2 of 14: Click each of the four horizontal and vertical tiles on the top and right sides of the large colored grid.
  • 3 of 14: You will see one of the sixteen squares of the image of Dracula on the right behind each one.
  • 4 of 14: There is also a horizontal and vertical code entry system on the left, into which you can enter the colors found on the large grid.
  • 5 of 14: Let's handle the horizontal ones first.
  • 6 of 14: Click the four horizontal black tiles at the top, and click the four tiles they correspond to on the image of Dracula. The tiles you clicked will disappear.
  • 7 of 14: Now, this is the weird part. Drag the entire image of Dracula, by the handle on its left side, OVER the grid. You can see the colored parts through the holes.
  • 8 of 14: What you need to do is find a place on the grid where the four tiles that can be seen through the holes in the Dracula image match up to the four tiles on the top of the screen. So, first a triangle with a line and another triangle in it, then a clear triangle, then a triangle with another triangle in it, then another clear triangle.
  • 9 of 14: The position you need is in the lower-left corner. The tile in the top-left of the Dracula image should be green, then a white, then two blues.
  • 10 of 14: Change the horizontal code entry to these colors. Green, white, blue, blue.
  • 11 of 14: Now, repeat the process for the vertical ones. You will need to click the Dracula image again to reset the cleared tiles.
  • 12 of 14: The code for the vertical section is obtained in the same way. And its solution is:
  • 13 of 14: Green, white, red, blue.
  • 14 of 14: After entering these codes, the grate will open.
