Dracula: Origin Hints

What should I be doing at the game's outset?

  • 1 of 19: You've come to Mina's apartment in order to warn her about the possible vampiric activity in London, and also to check on Jonathan Harker's progress.
  • 2 of 19: Mina will soon leave (after the conversation), leaving you to contemplate the study you have been left in.
  • 3 of 19: Your goal here is to work out the aggressor's next move -- to find his lair, or base of operations.
  • 4 of 19: All of the tools you need to do so are in this room.
  • 5 of 19: As a hint, head to the bottom screen and pull the red curtain on the wall -- that will reveal Harker's map of London, onto which you need to draw (with the aid of the red pencil found here) the paths the assailants took.
  • 6 of 19: You need to draw four lines on the map, connecting eight places.
  • 7 of 19: The four newspaper articles you need can all be found within the room.
  • 8 of 19: You can pick up an article from the News Times on September 8th, 1898, which states that an assault took place on the New Kent Road, and that the aggressor fled towards the National Gallery.
  • 9 of 19: So, connect those two points on the map. The New Kent Road is at the lower-right, and the National Gallery is above the river at the top-left.
  • 10 of 19: The next article you can find is from The Courier, on September 8th, 1898, which states that Jenny's sister was murdered on Southwark Bridge. Afterward, the killer headed for the Tate Gallery.
  • 11 of 19: Connect those two points next. Southwark Bridge is at the far right end of the river Thames, and the Tate can be found at the bottom of the map.
  • 12 of 19: Next, check the Daily Big Mirror, from September 8th, 1898, which states that Sarah McAllister was assaulted on the intersection between Tottenham Court Road and Euston Road. The attacker then fled in the direction of St George's Cathedral.
  • 13 of 19: Connect those two points next.
  • 14 of 19: Finally, there is one more newspaper article we need to find. It's in amongst the pile of newspapers on the table.
  • 15 of 19: You know the attack happened two days previously -- Jenny told you that. You also know that today's date is September 8th. So, check the newspapers from two days prior to that.
  • 16 of 19: On the News Times' September 6th edition's front page, you will find an article about a certain Ethel Basingstoke, who was assaulted at St. George's Church. Her assailant went towards Victoria Station.
  • 17 of 19: Make that last line on the map, and then work out what the information tells you.
  • 18 of 19: Where is the point that all of the lines converge at?
  • 19 of 19: Click on Godalming Manor, the point at which the lines cross, and Van Helsing will set off for the place immediately.
