Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon Hints
The old combination doesn't work! How can I open the strongbox now?
of 12: You'll have to figure out what the new combination is, and the noisy clicking sounds you get when you change the settings won't help you now.
of 12: Maybe the new combo is related to the old combo somehow.
of 12: The old combo was M-D-C-C-C-X-X, which could be interpreted as a Roman numeral.
of 12: Check your Roman numerals document if you need to refresh your memory on what each letter and letter combo are worth.
of 12: You'll see that the old combo is the number 1820. Have you seen that number somewhere else around here?
of 12: Go back out into the hallway and look around.
of 12: Click the eye cursor on the statue that's near the professor's door.
of 12: It says that Herman Van Bergen lived from 1820 to 1913.
of 12: So maybe the professor changed the strongbox's combo from 1820 to 1913!
of 12: Translate 1913 into Roman numerals to see what you get.
of 12: It's MCMXIII, which is also seven digits long, meaning it will fit the strongbox's lock.
of 12: Enter M-C-M-X-I-I-I into the strongbox to open it.
