Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon Hints

How can I solve the "Runic anthology" puzzle?

  • 1 of 10: First off, note that you don't ever have to solve that puzzle, or even look at it. It's purely optional.
  • 2 of 10: After turning to the puzzle page, notice that you can get an outline around any of the one-line phrases or hyphen lines on the page by pointing the mouse cursor at it.
  • 3 of 10: You can then click and drag that line to any spot on either of the two sides of the page.
  • 4 of 10: You need to reorder all of the lines so that they're grouped into sets (called "kennings"), with hyphen lines dividing each set.
  • 5 of 10: Since there are ten hyphen lines, there are apparently eleven sets of phrases.
  • 6 of 10: Start by moving every hyphen line to the top of the left side of the page. Once that's done, you can start moving phrases into sets in between those lines.
  • 7 of 10: Look for phrases that are closely related, like "the whistling bug of battlefields" and "the thorn of the wound."
  • 8 of 10: It doesn't matter what order you do the phrase sets in, or what order the phrases are within each set.
  • 9 of 10: Once all eleven sets are completed, Father Arno will figure out what each set's phrases refer to, and will replace the hyphen lines with brief notes on what the sets describe.
  • 10 of 10: Below, I've made lists of the phrases that go into each of the eleven sets. I use the titles that Father Arno gives each set after you complete all of them. If you need help, you can pick a subject and click on it to see what all phrases go into that set, or you can use the UHS Reader for Windows to search for an exact phrase in order to find out which set it goes into and what other phrases go with it.
