Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon Hints
How do I solve the puzzle to the left of the door?
of 17: Click on the grid in the alcove to get a close-up of it.
of 17: Click the eye on the inscription above the grid close-up to get a clue as to what's going on here.
of 17: It seems that this puzzle is about BST (blood, sweat, and tears).
of 17: Notice that each square in the grid has little gates on all four of its sides that you can click on to open. (That is, all squares that aren't along an edge of the grid have four gates. Corner squares only have two gates, and other edge squares have three gates.)
of 17: Try clicking on a gate on one of the squares that starts out with liquid in it.
of 17: That'll allow some of the liquid to flow into the adjacent square through the open gate.
of 17: Closing that gate will stop the flow, and what's in that square will drain out, leaving the square empty again.
of 17: Remembering what the inscription above the grid says, we can deduce that two of the originally occupied squares contain blood, two contain sweat, and two contain tears.
of 17: You need to figure out how you can open gates to connect blood to blood, sweat to sweat, and tears to tears without any of them mingling at any point.
of 17: Using the above graphic, see if you can figure out a way to connect the red squares, blue squares, and green squares without overlap.
of 17: Remember that you don't have to connect in a straight line. That would make the puzzle impossible to solve.
of 17: Here's a blue clue: the blue line will be by far the longest and twistiest.
of 17: In the graphic below, you can click on each of the three color key squares to fill in the route for that color.
of 17: Once you understand how the solution works, use the squares' little gates in the game to get it done. Be careful not to get confused because all of the liquids look the same.
of 17: NOTE: When you make it from one end of a liquid path to the other, don't forget to open the final gate -- the one that connects the last square you filled with the second square that started with that type of liquid.
of 17: When you get it right, your view will automatically de-zoom, and you'll see that the door's lower bar has been removed.
