Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Hints

Investigate the Blackmarsh.

  • 1 of 11: Use the world map to travel to the Blackmarsh, then fight and loot your way along until you reach a destroyed village.
  • 2 of 11: Just inside the village's ruins is a darkspawn corpse. Examine it to determine that Kristoff is near, then explore the ruins for combat and loot before leaving through the north exit.
  • 3 of 11: North of the ruins, look for a rashvine and a veil tear that'll give you the "Tears in the Veil" optional quest, then go NE to a path loop that leads to Kristoff's camp.
  • 4 of 11: Kill the two blighted shadow wolves that appear in the camp, then examine the cot to get a quest update before looking around for some extra combat and loot.
  • 5 of 11: Go east from the camp to find a path split. Take the NW branch first to find an optional stone circle area, then take the east branch to find an optional north area followed by a combat with several "childer grub" creatures.
  • 6 of 11: After killing the childer grubs off, continue east to find Kristoff's body. Before you do anything with it, look past it for a madcap plant, a dragon bone, and a locked chest.
  • 7 of 11: Examining Kristoff's body will take you to a Fade version of the Blackmarsh, and will commit you to finishing this quest. Do everything else you want to in the marsh and elsewhere first. (Note that you can easily finish the "The Trail of Love" quest now.)
  • 8 of 11: After Justice joins you as a follower, level up anyone who needs it, then search the First's body to find powerful magic armor and greatsword items.
  • 9 of 11: You now need to track down the baroness and close her Fade portals as you come across them.
  • 10 of 11: After a brief conversation, the baroness will turn into a huge demon.
  • 11 of 11: After the baroness finally goes down, persuade Justice to stay with you. That will finish the quest, but there are a few more things to do on your way out.
