Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Hints

Eradicate darkspawn beneath the Vigil.

  • 1 of 11: Go west to a path split, then turn north to find the Shrine to Korth.
  • 2 of 11: Go south from the path split and make your way west down the wide corridor, fighting darkspawn as they attack you from side rooms.
  • 3 of 11: When you reach the spot where the corridor is blocked by huge boulders, enter the nearest south-side room.
  • 4 of 11: Loot some old bones, then go through a portcullis and a door. Examine the plaque on the wall ahead for a codex entry, then deal with a skeleton ambush as you head west.
  • 5 of 11: Loot one of the skeletons to get the Trickster's Boots, then examine the warrior statue for a codex entry before moving on to a large "Forbidden Chamber."
  • 6 of 11: In it, you'll have to fight a special wraith called The Dark Theurge. It moves around a lot, and summons several skeletons when its health gets low. (Also note that it's immune to cold damage.)
  • 7 of 11: After it's temporarily defeated, examine the strange apparatus in the center of the room. Doing so will free the wraith, but it's necessary to open up the east passage. (Note that it gets you optional quest "The Wraith's Vengeance.")
  • 8 of 11: Loot the four urns in the wraith's room, then go down the east passage and around to the room marked "Dwarven Outpost" on the area map. Loot the scroll pile and locked chest, then park your party in that room.
  • 9 of 11: Send one member up to the room's northern doorway and carefully lure darkspawn to you a few at a time so you can finish several of them off before having to deal with the massive ogre commander.
  • 10 of 11: After the ogre and all of the other darkspawn are dead, heal up and wait for the ogre to be possessed by that Dark Theurge jerk, forcing you to fight it again.
  • 11 of 11: After you kill it, the quest-ending cut-scene will happen. Tell Maverlies to give you a few moments so you can loot the darkspawn corpse that's east of the dwarven outpost if you haven't already, then talk to her and choose to return to the keep.
