Dragon Age: Origins Hints

Rescue the women.

  • 1 of 12: After entering the estate, go through a door to find a room with a sleeping guard and a lootable barrel.
  • 2 of 12: If you talk to the guard before he can wake up on his own, you'll have the option to quickly kill him without going through the usual combat rigamarole. (Don't worry -- you'll still get the XP.)
  • 3 of 12: Go through the door to the kitchen and check the shelves, then go over to where the cook talks to you.
  • 4 of 12: After his elven assistant knocks him out, raid the locked liquor cabinet (if you're a rogue), then go through the door next to it to find a room with two more lootable containers.
  • 5 of 12: Thrash the off-duty guards in the room north of the kitchen, then check the small NE side room for two lootable containers before going through the western door.
  • 6 of 12: Kill the guard in the hallway, then go through the west door to find another guard plus two weapon racks and an armor stand.
  • 7 of 12: Return to the hallway and go through its north door to find three tough guards. This will be your first really difficult fight, and you may have to run away and use healing poultices every now and then to stay alive (especially if you're a rogue).
  • 8 of 12: Loot the cabinet in their room, then move on to find a hallway with several small side rooms that you should check for extra combat and loot. (Note that one room also has some books on a table that you can read for a codex entry.)
  • 9 of 12: North of that hallway is a room with guards, followed by another hallway. Unlock the door to the south room if you can to find two more guards and a lootable chest, then go through the east door.
  • 10 of 12: Loot the armoire and three jars in that room, then go through its east door to enter a hallway with a tough bodyguard and a fireball trap. Stay back to avoid the trap, and hit the bodyguard with ranged attacks until he reaches you. (Or move around the trap by hugging the walls.)
  • 11 of 12: Check the three side rooms for containers to loot, then go through the north door in the NE side room to find Vaughan and two of his friends.
  • 12 of 12: They'll try to talk you out of killing them, and you can go along with that if you want to avoid a fight and get some gold. However, you'd be better off killing them for the extra XP and loot, especially since you can't claim the gold they give you until part 4 of the main quests.
