Dragon Age: Origins Hints
Misc. Tips
1 of 4: Talk to your companions frequently, especially at the party camp, to gain approval points with them. (And to lose approval points, if you're not careful.) Gaining approval with companions via conversation, quest deeds, and giving gifts will get you attribute increases, unlock new specializations, and let you do special Companion Quests.
2 of 4: Get in the habit of pressing and briefly holding the "Highlight objects" key (TAB on the PC) on frequent occasions, especially if you suspect there's an NPC, monster, door, or treasure container in an area that's hard to see in. Anything you can interact with will be highlighted as long as the "Highlight objects" key is pressed. (In order to see farther ahead, rotate the camera down a ways.)
3 of 4: Whenever you come across traps or locked items, select your rogue character and have him deal with them. Try to disarm all the traps and open all the locks you come across to get more loot and XP.
4 of 4: There's usually no penalty for stealing in this game, like there is in some other recent RPGs (such as Fallout 3). You can raid openable containers in someone's house right in front of them without worrying about being attacked or reported to the guards. Also, you can have someone with the Stealing skill repeatedly use it on people to see what all he can pickpocket without fear of retribution. (There are some few places where failing a pickpocket attempt will cause something to happen. In Lothering, for instance, some people will brand you as a troublemaker and refuse to talk to you.)
