Dragon Age: Origins Hints
Help Ser Otto discover what is going on in the Alienage.
1 of 23: Look around the alienage for anything that seems suspicious.
2 of 23: Start by talking to a deranged beggar.
3 of 23: You'll find her sitting near the door to Valendrian's home, south of the huge central tree.
4 of 23: Talk to her about the bad men and the orphanage to get the "Look for more clues" objective.
5 of 23: Return to Ser Otto and tell him about the clues you found, then follow him as he runs to the orphanage door.
6 of 23: Go inside and through the first door to find a short hallway with two more doors.
7 of 23: Go through the east one and loot the broken chest, then go through the west one.
8 of 23: Past the next door, loot two wooden crates before going through the next door.
9 of 23: The next hallway has two locked doors you can't open, plus another door at its east end.
10 of 23: As you move toward the east door, the two locked ones will open up and release several rabid wardogs.
11 of 23: WARNING: The wardogs will attack Ser Otto and kill him, thereby canceling the quest, if you let them.
12 of 23: Check the north room for a wooden chest, then open the hallway's east door to find a tormented woman spirit to fight.
13 of 23: After that, go through two more doors to find several rioting spirits and a rampaging spirit to fight. (You might want to do the hold-position trick again to make sure Ser Otto doesn't get killed.)
14 of 23: Loot the two charred corpses in the spirits' room, then go through the next door.
15 of 23: In the next room, Ser Otto will make the demon show itself. Immediately rush to the attack to keep Ser Otto from getting himself killed.
16 of 23: As the demon loses health, lesser shades will appear and join the attack. Finish them off as they appear to avoid getting overwhelmed by numbers.
17 of 23: Loot the locked chest and charred corpse in the demon's room, then go through a couple more doors to enter a room with a rampaging spirit and some lesser shades.
18 of 23: Kill them and loot the charred corpse, then check the room to the west for another charred corpse. Go through the north door and unlock the locked door to find a locked chest and a wooden crate.
19 of 23: Going near the door to the east will trigger a large ambush. Have your party hold position back in the demon's room so you can send in one character to trigger the ambush and lead shades and spirits back a few at a time. (To keep Ser Otto alive, you may want to initiate the "hold position" in a previous room, then run your characters to the demon room.)
20 of 23: Keep playing the lure-back game until you clear out the two rooms past the ambush trigger point, then head west from the second room to get a bunch of abominations to appear for more lure-back fun.
21 of 23: After they're all down, loot the charred corpse in the first room and the rubble in the abominations' area, then go through the next door to meet the next demon.
22 of 23: It'll be easy to put down, but the one that appears after it dies won't be. It's a powerful boss-level demon, and it'll summon lesser rage demons as its health goes down. (Note that Ser Otto dies as a scripted event when this demon appears.)
23 of 23: Loot the two charred corpses and locked chest in the demon's room (note that taking the worn amulet from the chest gets you the "Hearing Voices" optional quest), then use the door to exit the orphanage.
