Dragon Age: Origins Hints

How can I finish that quest?

  • 1 of 18: Couldry is back in his usual spot in Denerim's Market District, so go talk to him about the final heist.
  • 2 of 18: Use the city map to travel to the Bann of West Hill's Estate again.
  • 3 of 18: Go through the starting room's south door, and have your rogue lead the way so he can detect and disarm traps.
  • 4 of 18: After he gets the second trap, have everyone hold position there so one character can lure in guards from the large square-shaped corridor area. (Watch for traps in all four sections of the corridor.)
  • 5 of 18: After the corridor and central room are clear, open the north room's door and lure its soldiers out.
  • 6 of 18: Then it's looting time. Check the central room for kitchen supplies, the north room for two locked chests, and the locked south room for another locked chest.
  • 7 of 18: Park your party somewhere near the SE corner of the square-shaped corridor, then send someone to open the door that's near its NW corner.
  • 8 of 18: Use the lure-back method on all the guards in the corridor past the door (look out for a couple of traps, as usual), then get the mercenary captain who's in the small south room.
  • 9 of 18: Loot the merc captain to get his key, then check his room for a chest. Also, check the area's central room for a locked chest.
  • 10 of 18: Park your party in the NW side room, then send one character down to the SW room and have him open the locked door (courtesy of the merc captain's key). There are lots of guards past that door to lure in.
  • 11 of 18: Once you clear the way to a north/west path split, move your party up to the room with the formerly locked door (or thereabouts) before luring in guards from the locked room north of the path split. (Note that they include the powerful Captain of the Guard.)
  • 12 of 18: Loot that room's armor stand and weapon rack, then take your party into the large room west of the path split and kill off its few guards.
  • 13 of 18: West of that room is the area you were in before that was supposedly the treasure vault. The difference now is that the concealed door to the north can be revealed by right-clicking on the shelves that are in the way.
  • 14 of 18: Go through the concealed door and open the next one. Have everyone hold position, then send your rogue in to detect and disarm pressure plate traps. If any of those traps are triggered, the room's two golems will come to "life" and attack. (And as an added bonus, the room will be flooded with poison gas.)
  • 15 of 18: TIP: For max XP, disarm four of the traps, then trigger the fifth one (preferably the one nearest the entry door) and fight the golems away from the poison gas.
  • 16 of 18: Get your rogue to unlock the room's NW door, then loot the unlocked chest in the room past it to get the Tears of Andraste item that you're after. Also loot the locked chest, weapon rack, and cabinet.
  • 17 of 18: The nearest exit is down the north corridor from the north/west path split. Before you can get there, you'll have to fight one last group of guards. I'm sure you know how to handle them by now.
  • 18 of 18: Return to the Market District and give the tears to Slim Couldry to get 10 gold and *finally* finish the quest.
