Dragon Age: Origins Hints
Castle Optionals
of 9: Leave the kitchen and go north to find a locked door. You'll only be able to open it and loot the sacks in the room past it if your character is a rogue.
of 9: You can also find a locked chest in a room north of the main hall, plus two locked doors just east of the main hall that lead to rooms with locked chests. (Warrior characters are really getting cheated here!)
of 9: In the SE room, you can talk to Mother Mallol to get a codex entry, and read the books on the podium and shelves for two more.
of 9: There's yet another locked room south of the main hall that has two locked chests and a weapon stand in it. (Though note that even rogues may not be able to pick open one of the chests.)
of 9: If you visit the guard post that's down the short hallway just west of that, you can chastise some lazy treasury guards, but it won't get you anything.
of 9: In the nearby library, use the "Highlight objects" key to find two books that you can read for codex entries, then question Aldous thoroughly to get two more.
of 9: Check the study to find another codex-giving book, then head north to the start of the hallway that gives access to the castle's western section.
of 9: After talking to your mother and her companions, return to the library's study, where you can flirt with Iona to get an optional quest (though it's rather pointless).
of 9: Return to the western section to find another locked door at the point where the hallway turns south. Rogues can open that door for a bit of XP, though there's nothing in the room beyond it.
