Dragon Age: Origins Hints
Lothering Tour - South Section
of 13: Look among the refugee tents along the southern border to find an elfroot plant and three broken crates.
of 13: Look for another elfroot plant near some refugees directly north of the stairs that lead up to the old highway.
of 13: Talk to the farmer who's standing around a bit SE of that plant if you want to, then go down the path and over to where you get caught up in a conversation that some refugees are having with the local merchant.
of 13: You have several options, the best two of which are to either intimidate the merchant into lowering his prices for the refugees or agree to take 100 silver (which equals 1 gold coin) to support him. The main difference in the two choices besides the gold coin is companion approval. Morrigan likes it when you support the merchant, and Alistair doesn't.
of 13: If you have anyone with the Stealing skill, you can keep trying it on the merchant until you get an Imperium Crossbow (Dragonthorn). However, if you fail even one stealing attempt (on anyone in Lothering), you'll be branded a troublemaker by two quest-givers in the north half of town. You should wait and do their quests (if you're ever going to) before trying to steal the crossbow.
of 13: Look next to the merchant's wagon for a barrel and locked chest, then go a short distance east to find Chanter Devon and the Chanter's Board. Use the board to get the "The Chanter's Board" optional quest, then go through the big archway to the right of it.
of 13: Shut the doomsayer up however you want to, then look next to a wagon for a pile of sacks.
of 13: Talk to Ser Maron if you want, then enter the Chantry and talk to Ser Bryant. Mention that you killed off the bandits to get 20 silver, and ask if there's any other help he can offer to get the key to a locked cabinet.
of 13: Read the book that's on a table just north of Ser Bryant to get a codex entry, then talk to Ser Donall to finish up the "A Fallen Templar" optional quest.
of 13: Go into the room with the chanting brothers and look to the right of the stage for the locked cabinet that you got the key to. Loot it, then look a ways west of the stage for a book on the floor (codex entry), an interactive bookshelf (another codex entry), and a locked chest in a side room.
of 13: Go over to the east side room and read a book on the floor for a codex entry, then optionally talk to the revered mother. (Don't bother making any donations, though.)
of 13: Exit the Chantry and look a bit north of its job board for a couple of wooden crates, then look to the left of the river bridge for some rubble to loot. There's another crate a bit west of some robbed people.
of 13: You can optionally tell the robbed man that the bandits are dead, and talk to the little boy next to the river bridge about his mother, but it's not useful to do so. Just cross the bridge and start on the Lothering Tour - North Section.
