Dragon Age: Origins Hints

Inventory Highlights

  • 1 of 5: You'll probably be annoyed at how much more expensive his backpack is than the two you bought in Ostagar, but it should still be a priority item. (Note that when you return later, he may have another one. Keep checking back with him.)
  • 2 of 5: He sells manuals that you can use to gain the Ranger and Templar specializations, though remember that you can get Alistair to teach you the Templar one if you can get his approval rating high enough.
  • 3 of 5: He also sells super-expensive tomes that can be used to learn a new spell (Tome of Arcane Technique) or a new rogue or warrior talent (Tome of Physical Technique). Try to use your level-up talent/spell points wisely enough that you'll never need these tomes, but keep them in mind if you can spare the money after buying other things you really want.
  • 4 of 5: Another interesting item is the Dwarven Merchant's Belt, which supposedly increases monetary gain when worn. I don't know when it does, though, since it doesn't seem to affect how much money you get when you sell things, get quest rewards, or take money from container items.
  • 5 of 5: And then there's the really mega-expensive magic equipment, like the Veshialle waraxe and the Spellward amulet. You'd have to save up for a *long* time to afford those things! (Note that the amulet is a much better investment, since top-tier weapons will be available for free from certain quests and areas.)
