Dragon Age: Origins Hints

What all can I do in treaty-quest areas without working on the quests?

  • 1 of 5: The four main treaty-quest areas are Redcliffe Village, the Brecilian Outskirts, the Lake Calenhad Docks, and the Frostback Mountains.
  • 2 of 5: The only thing you can do at Redcliffe Village without getting caught up in its quests is harvest a single deathroot plant. If you approach the bridge and get taken to see Bann Teagan, you'll need to stay until after you finish the quests that deal with protecting the village from an undead attack.
  • 3 of 5: At Lake Calenhad, you can explore the docks area, and you can sail across to the Circle Tower to gain access to the quartermaster's merchant services (note that he sells a backpack). Just don't go through the big metal door that's east of the quartermaster.
  • 4 of 5: In the Brecilian forest, you can explore the Dalish camp plus the entire West Brecilian Forest area and most of the East Brecilian Forest area. You can't get past the east area's magical barrier without doing a quest task.
  • 5 of 5: In the Frostback Mountains, you can explore the outdoor area, then enter Orzammar and explore the Commons, Dust Town, and the Diamond Quarter without worrying about any main quests.
