Dragon Age: Origins Hints
Commons Tour
of 11: Go west from the Captain of the Guard and move along until you find the people who give the "A Lost Nug" and "An Unlikely Scholar" optional quests.
of 11: Near them is a merchant named Garin that you can get store services from. Note that he sells a super-expensive dragonbone dagger called The Rose's Thorn, and a great magic ring called Lifegiver. He also sells crystals for Shale if you have "The Stone Prisoner" DLC module installed.
of 11: Move on past them to find a codex-giving runestone and one of Boermor's missing nugs.
of 11: The nearby mines commander won't let you past him yet, so return to the small plaza area that's south of the Hall of Heroes door.
of 11: Talk to Nerav about the political situation if you want to, then head south down the long walkway that leads to the Proving Grounds.
of 11: On the walkway, look for a codex-giving document and another of Boermor's nugs.
of 11: There's nothing to do in the Proving area yet, so go back north and turn right to enter the east section.
of 11: The first thing you come to is the door to the Janar Armorers shop. Go inside and examine the wall carving for a codex entry, then talk to Janar and check his store inventory.
of 11: Just past his shop is a woman you can get the "A Mother's Hope" optional quest from, plus a small side alley with a nug in it.
of 11: Beyond that is the door to Tapster's Tavern. Inside, you can talk to Corra and Nevin for info and drinks, and a nervous adventurer for a codex entry. You can also speak to Lord Helmi, but he's not important until later.
of 11: Past the tavern is a merchant named Legnar (note the tome he sells which can raise an attribute), the guy you can get the "The Chant in the Deeps" optional quest from, a codex-giving wall carving, and another of Boermor's nugs.
