Dragon Age: Origins Hints

How can I release the beast that's caged in stone?

  • 1 of 10: You'll need to get the four characters in your party to stand on four specific pressure plates.
  • 2 of 10: Click on the "move freely" icon that's below the character portraits to get everyone to hold their positions.
  • 3 of 10: Move one character so he's standing next to the throne.
  • 4 of 10: Have two other characters stand on the arrow-like designs on the floor near the throne room's SW corner. (You'll hear brief scraping noises when a character is standing in the right spot.)
  • 5 of 10: Have the fourth character leave the throne room through its south door and stand on the large design in the middle of the entry room's floor.
  • 6 of 10: Quicksave, then have the character who's standing next to the throne examine it again.
  • 7 of 10: That will cause a powerful dragon to appear in the center of the throne room.
  • 8 of 10: You'll be locked in the throne room, but a capable rogue can unlock one of the throne room's two doors so you can run around to gain more maneuvering room. (But forget about anyone else joining in the fight.)
  • 9 of 10: If it's too much for you to handle, restore your quicksave, then come back and try again later on when your characters are higher-level and have better equipment.
  • 10 of 10: After you kill the dragon, loot its body to get a powerful greatsword called Ageless that has several neat magic effects on it.
