Dragon Age: Origins Hints

West Tunnel Tips

  • 1 of 12: Look for a fractured stone to loot as you move along the starting tunnel. When you come to a large cave, hang back and kill darkspawn as they come to you.
  • 2 of 12: Go through the cave and clear out the darkspawn and traps, then approach the bridge to the south.
  • 3 of 12: There's a hurlock alpha on it, and several lesser darkspawn will appear behind you. It's best to retreat to the north and fight, then deal with the traps on the bridge afterward.
  • 4 of 12: Loot the fractured stone that's near the bridge and the two locked chests to the west of it, then cross the bridge and take down the next big batch of darkspawn.
  • 5 of 12: Watch for "shriek" creatures appearing suddenly after the battle, as you're going around looking for loot.
  • 6 of 12: Check the rubble next to the bridge and the fractured stone east of that, then look to the south for a couple of locked chests.
  • 7 of 12: As you approach the chests, an ogre will probably see you. He'll be easy to take down if you've already finished off all the other darkspawn.
  • 8 of 12: Loot the chests after he's dead, then look to the south for some rubble you can get a codex entry from.
  • 9 of 12: Go down the narrow tunnel that starts a bit SE of the bridge until you reach the road again.
  • 10 of 12: Look for a codex-giving statue and rubble pile nearby, then park your characters a ways back in the tunnel you just exited.
  • 11 of 12: Use the Lead-Them-Off Strategy to lure in the bronto and darkspawn that are on the road to the east. After they're down, repeat the lure-in strategy with the darkspawn in the ballista-fortified area to the south.
  • 12 of 12: Note that this is a bit easier to do after exiting the east tunnel, so you might want go back the way you came and explore it before taking on all the darkspawn near the ballista.
