Dragon Age II Hints

Character Development Tips

  • 1 of 4: You get three attribute points every time you level up, but don't take that as a sign that you should distribute them across all of your attributes. Many equipable items require very high attributes -- some even as high as 42. You should pick two attributes to be your primary attributes and put most of your points into them. For instance, warriors will put most of their points into Strength and Constitution, plus maybe a few into Dexterity or Cunning (but not many).
  • 2 of 4: You'll also get one ability point every time you level up. That makes choosing which ability trees you're going to specialize in a lot easier, and you can probably end up maxing out two of them and getting a good start on a third.
  • 3 of 4: Watch for special tomes and elixirs in merchant inventories that will give you extra attribute and ability points. See the Tome and Elixir List.
  • 4 of 4: If you ever find that there's nothing currently available that you want to spend your ability points on, you can save them up until you gain a specialization point (which happens at levels 7 and 14), then unlock whatever specialization you want and spend your saved points on its new abilities. Or if several abilities you want aren't available because you aren't high-level enough yet, save up your ability points until you reach that level to be sure you have plenty to use right away.
