2 of 3: After saying you're looking for Feynriel, choose the "Bethany?" option to get her to show Vincento that you're no enemy of apostates.
3 of 3: You won't be able to convince him any other way, but note that telling him to make up for his neglect will get you some friendship points with Merrill. If you then go talk to Thrask, you can get the info you need plus even more friendship points with Merrill.
