Dragon Age II Hints
A New Path
1 of 11: After finishing the "On the Loose" main plot quest, you'll get this quest while traveling around with Merrill in your party.
2 of 11: Talk to Merrill in her home and agree to help her, then travel to Sundermount and go to the Dalish camp.
3 of 11: Optionally speak to Keeper Marethari, then head up the path that leads to the Sundermount Caverns, watching for a giant spider ambush on the way.
4 of 11: Go through the caverns and the mountain graveyard, then continue up the path to its top, where you'll encounter some undead (including a shadow assassin) next to the Pride's End cave entrance.
5 of 11: Go down to the cave's main floor to find a felandaris plant next to a strange idol. Take the plant, then examine the idol to get Keeper Marethari to show up and reveal what happened to the demon.
6 of 11: After she turns into the demon, get everyone to start attacking it. There'll be a couple of elven ghost archers nearby, but they can be ignored.
7 of 11: Get your ranged characters well away from the pride demon, then keep its attention occupied with your melee fighters.
8 of 11: After the brief mid-combat cut-scene, watch out for the demon to create large, white vortexes of energy. When it starts one up, get everybody out of it fast.
9 of 11: When the demon is nearly dead, it'll turn back into Keeper Marethari and try to trick you. You can mention that she said she'd have to die (which ends the battle right away) or you can say you're glad that's over (which prolongs it a bit). Either way, she'll end up dead, and you can gain friendship points with Merrill by blaming the keeper for what happened.
10 of 11: Loot the keeper to get Merrill's final armor upgrade, then exit the cave to find some of the Dalish waiting for you. You can avoid a fight by choosing the "I'll take responsibility" dialogue option, or you can start a fight by choosing a different option.
11 of 11: Use the nearby clickable hotspot to quickly travel down the mountain and reach the Dalish camp, from which you can easily reach the two map exits.
