Dragon Age II Hints

Mine Massacre

  • 1 of 11: Talk to Hubert in Hightown's market area during the day to get this quest (or just travel the Bone Pit region on the Free Marches map).
  • 2 of 11: Go to the Bone Pit and check around the main camp area for a pile of bones and two corpses to loot.
  • 3 of 11: If you're ready to take on a huge and mighty high dragon, head on down the path that leads south from the main camp. If you're not ready, go back to Kirkwall and shop around for fire resistance items, cold damage items, useful potions and runes, etc.
  • 4 of 11: When you're ready, enter the high dragon's area and start attacking it. After it loses a significant chunk of health, it'll fly a short distance away, so quickly run after it.
  • 5 of 11: After it loses a bit more health, it'll fly off to an out-of-reach area and summon a bunch of dragonlings to keep you busy.
  • 6 of 11: The high dragon will occasionally hit you with fireballs from its new perch, but you can't attack it, so concentrate on finishing off the dragonlings as quickly as you can.
  • 7 of 11: After the dragonlings stop coming, your ranged characters will be able to hit the high dragon, so get them to do that if they don't automatically.
  • 8 of 11: Eventually, the high dragon will fly back down to the ground where everyone can attack it, and the whole cycle will repeat. (Note that future dragonling waves may include a small dragon.)
  • 9 of 11: If you can ever manage to kill the huge beast, loot it to get the unique dragon's blood crafting item, plus an item that'll give you the "Herbalist's Tasks" secondary quest. There are also a few other items on it, including an armor upgrade for Fenris.
  • 10 of 11: Look around for other dead bodies to loot, then use the map exit at the east end of the area to return to Hightown.
  • 11 of 11: Talk to Hubert to finish the quest. (Note that it doesn't matter what you tell him.)
