Drowned God Hints

How do I solve it?

  • 1 of 9: An extensive solution is given on pages XXVIII and XXIX of the user guide.
  • 2 of 9: I know many people have a hard time understanding it, so I'll explain more.
  • 3 of 9: The most important thing to realize is that this game isn't fair.
  • 4 of 9: If he really knows the game, the player who places the cup on the board is sure to win.
  • 5 of 9: There are specific "winning positions" (the user guide refers to them as "stable squares") for this game.  If, by the end of your turn, the cup is in a winning position, then you're on your way to victory.
  • 6 of 9: Winning positions are not dependent of the board itself.  They correspond to specific squares within a given set of flames.
  • 7 of 9: There is NO way to win the very first game.  The knight places the cup on a stable square and keeps playing flawlessly.
  • 8 of 9: On the second game, though, you get to place the cup, so you can win by sticking to winning positions.
  • 9 of 9: For the third game, the knight starts, but he won't place the cup on a winning position (he probably drinks too much).  On your first turn, you'll be able to obtain a winning position and get back on the way to victory.
