Dungeon Siege Hints
Party composition
Dungeon Siege is balanced fairly well, so you can win with almost any party composition. You can even win with just a single character, if you like a challenge. The normal distribution is to have a full party of 8, or 7 and a mule. It is a good idea to have at least two mages, and at least two archers. Have your front people heavily armored. Many players will choose put a pair of fighters in the front.
An interesting party to run is six archers and two mages. Because of all the ranged attacks, enemy archers are not a problem, and many monsters will die on their way over to you. As your party is pretty fast on its feet, you can fight well while retreating.
If you try all fighters, be careful they don't run away chasing monsters and get lost. A member separated from the rest of the party will often be killed before you even know what is happening.
