Dark Side of the Moon Hints

Learn the layout of the game

  • "Dark Side of the Moon" is a b-i-g game.  The six CD-ROMs it comes on should give you some indication of that.  The game will be a lot easier if you take the time to learn every aspect, every level, every geographic location of the game -- where everything is in relation to everything else, and how to get from Point A to Point B.

Also, there may be more than one way to get from Point A to Point B, and one method may require less disc swapping.  As complex as the game is, a "perfect" game (i.e., one in which you make the least moves possible, doing everything in the shortest order possible) will still require as many as 30 or more disc swaps.  (Most of these will take place near the end of the game, as you are moving rather quickly from one place to another.)

So get thoroughly familiar with the layout of the game.  Learn it as if you are there.  If necessary, draw maps or write notes.  Each individual location is mapped for you on your VDA; however, the VDA does not help you move from location to location.  The more familiar you become with your surroundings, the easier it will be to move around.  And the better you know the overall geography, the less disc swapping you will have to do.
