Outpost
Outposts let you use your radar. When built, that formerly almost blank black screen at the bottom-right of the screen will give you a more detailed map of the area. Also, when you click on Outposts, they tell you the visible friendly and enemy units, useful to determine if you can overpower the bad guys. When low on power, the radar is the first thing to go. You'll never need more than one, however.
