Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty Hints
Constructing your base
Start off building with a Windtrap, then a Refinery, Light Vehicle factory, Outpost, and then another Refinery. Then concentrate on making units for defending or for battle.
Whenever building Windtraps, always build concrete blocks. Without blocks, it will deteriorate rapidly, and cost you more on repairing costs. And it will cost you much frustration when your radar blacks out!
When it comes to other buildings, at the beginning, you don't need to build concrete blocks -- it takes too long. When you can upgrade to the four-square blocks, then build them everywhere you can.
Make sure to put your Refinery in an area close to a spice field, and don't surround it by other buildings. Otherwise, spice harvesting is slowed down (unless, of course, for Carry-Alls).
Be careful to make sure there's ways in and out of every place in your base. Occasionally, when units are produced, they'll end up in a different places, and if there's no way to get out of the area they're deployed out to, they're stuck.
Read about the concrete blocks. They are vital once you can upgrade to them. See, buildings take tiny bits of damage over a bit of time, so they need to be repaired. With blocks down, you don't need to repair as often (buildings take less time to deteriorate).
