Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty Hints
Mission #1: Collect Spice
The objective is relatively simple: harvest 1000 credits worth of spice. There are no enemy bases in this mission, although you will find a handful of weak enemy forces around the area. Anyway, start off by building a Windtrap. Once it's done, place it. Next, start to build a Refinery. Once that's completed, place it also, adjacent to one of your own buildings, but close to a spice field if you can. If there are little red dots that you can see on in your view, the Harvester (the big thing that came out of your Refinery) should go over and start harvesting it. (By the way, the little red dots are spice). Wait until it returns to the Refinery to unload. If you don't feel like waiting, go around with a Quad and Infantry group and destroy the pitiful bad guys that should be lurking close by.
After one trip, you should have enough spice to go over 1000. If not, the Harvester will harvest some more. Pay attention to that bar above your view (in the Genesis version -- look at the bar beneath your life bar, which is beneath the Harvester's picture in the upper-right hand corner). This will show how full the Harvester is. Each load brings back approximately 1000 credits, so try to estimate when to send your Harvester back to the Refinery (press the "Return" button in the PC, or tell your Harvester manually to go to the Refinery in the Genesis). Remember this, this will get some needed cash quicker for later missions -- you just obviously won't get as much cash. At this point, it should say that you've completed your mission. Good job! Onto Mission #2!
