Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty Hints
How can I get rid of Turrets?
No doubt the most unfair element of the game are Turrets. They really don't take many hits -- it's just that the computer always repairs them when their life gets in the yellow. This means you need to send MANY of your guys to attack one.
For Normal Turrets: Send in your Tanks to attack it, and see if you can get a Rocket Launcher or two to launch rockets from a distance. They may not hit often, but when they do, they do major damage. Another strategy I've been told is to get close with a Quad, get close, get off one shot, quickly move the left side, shoot, move to the north, attack, etc., in addition to other attacking units, will do good. Why? Since the Turrets rotate slower than the Quads move, you can get off some shots without it taking too much damage. This require some fast clickin', though.
For Rocket Turrets: These WILL drive you nuts. Similar to Normal Turrets, send several of your guys to attack it. However, your Rocket Launchers will be in more danger, since the shots can hit the Launcher now. Moving around quickly with a Quad as mentioned before also sort of works. And while you may think that moving a tank very close to the Rocket Turret and firing away will work, like the way you do when facing an enemy Rocket Launcher, it won't work -- these Turrets are also equipped with guns. Getting close is better than attacking at a distance, since the gun shots are alot less damaging than rockets! Another strategy I've been told, is that if you position your Rocket Launcher tank right, the tank's shots can get the Turret, but the Turret's rockets can't get you. Experiment with various positions -- this position is usually on an angle,
and relatively far away.
Also, get rid of the Construction Yard as quick as you can. Once destroyed, the enemy WILL replace the ones you destroyed, making the conquest of their base miserable.
