Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty Hints

How should I distribute defending units?

  • There's a limit to the amount of units you can have at one time in Dune 2.  This is why you should send almost ALL of your guys down to attack the enemy base.  If this was another game with no unit limits, I'd say otherwise, but you need all the strike force you can get.  Leave behind a Rocket Launcher and a Tank, and that should be it.  Make sure you have lots of Turrets though.  And following another rule, make sure you have some leftover credits.  If the enemy decides to strike, you have some moolah to make some defending vehicles, and since chances are, a couple guys got killed attacking the base, you have room to make more.

Note that the section above is for when you attacking another base.  If you are just keeping your guard up for enemy units while you build up your base, watch where the enemy strikes, and keep a line of your guys there.  Make sure to guard a repair facility once you get it.  And keep a handful of guys spread out to all corners of the base, because occasionally the enemy will make a sneak attack by sending guys in Carry-Alls. (No, I don't think you can do this yourself.  If anybody knows, tell me!)
