Sherlock Holmes: Silver Earring Hints

Piece of Dirty White Clothes (White Cloth)

  • 1 of 6: Holmes wants to soak it in soap & water first.  To me, "soaking" means just adding soap to some water and putting the item in it.  Not so here!
  • 2 of 6: You must heat the soapy water before adding the cloth!
  • 3 of 6: So, place the bowl of water on the left pedestal.  Then add the soap (from the rack).  Then light the burner by clicking on the portion at the bottom of the pedestal.  THEN add the white cloth.  It goes back in inventory, indicating more needs to be done to it.
  • 4 of 6: Now he wants to soak it in solvent.  Repeat the same process as above, using solvent from the rack instead.  It goes back into inventory so there must be something else to do.
  • 5 of 6: Pick it up a 3rd time.  He wants to examine it under the microscope.
  • 6 of 6: Just place it on the tray under the tube-shaped lens.  You're finally done with the White Cloth and the report should be read inside the Journal.
