Sherlock Holmes: Silver Earring Hints

How can I solve the Joker Puzzle?

  • 1 of 15: Insert a coin into the slot to begin.  Then click on the automaton's left hand (your right).
  • 2 of 15: What Holmes says bears repeating here: "I shall select a card to find the logical sequence to what this automaton displays."  Hmm.  Remember the words "logical sequence" from that sentence.
  • 3 of 15: After inserting the "coin counter", click on his left arm (your right) to begin.  The middle section on the automaton will spin and stop with 3 cards showing.

The objective is to pick the next card "in sequence" from the group of 12 cards at the left.  Each hand is slightly different, so I will explain them all.  (If you make a mistake, you'll start over from the beginning.)
  • 4 of 15: Deal 1 -- Ace of Hearts, Ace of Diamonds and Ace of Spades.  See anything similar?
  • 5 of 15: 3 Aces.  What would follow those?
  • 6 of 15: Why ... another Ace, of course.  You just happen to have one.
  • 7 of 15: Click on the Ace of Spades (3rd one from the left on the top row) and place it in the Joker's outstretched right hand.  Click on his left hand (upright) to go to the next round.
  • 8 of 15: Deal 2 -- 3 of Hearts, Jack of Spades and 7 of Clubs.  A heart, a spade and a club.  Hmm.  What is missing?
  • 9 of 15: The correct card must be a Diamond, but which one?  Think sequence.  Those 3 cards flank one of the Diamonds.
  • 10 of 15: Pick the 4 of Diamonds, placing it in his outstretched hand like before.  Click on his left hand again to "deal".
  • 11 of 15: Deal 3 -- 2 of Hearts, 7 of Clubs and Queen of Hearts.  Two Hearts and 1 Club.  This one's a little more obscure.
  • 12 of 15: Let's make 2 pair!
  • 13 of 15: Your choice should be a Club that is near a face card.  Specifically a Queen!
  • 14 of 15: There's only one Queen in your deck -- the Queen of Diamonds at the very top left.  And there's a Club near it!
  • 15 of 15: Pick the 4 of Clubs and place it in his hand.  You've won!  Don't forget to grab and read your prize (a piece of paper).
