How can Arok get across the water?

  • 1 of 21: Now that the bear is gone, you can explore where it was sleeping.
  • 2 of 21: Notice anything interesting along the ceiling of the cave, over the water?
  • 3 of 21: Note that there are a number of stalactites here.
  • 4 of 21: If we could get them to drop -- as in the example of the fresco with the bear -- they might provide some stepping-stones for Arok to walk on.
  • 5 of 21: The man in the fresco threw stones at the stalactites.  Hmm...  That's not a bad idea.
  • 6 of 21: If Arok tries to throw stones at the stalactites, he says, "I'll never do it that way, the stalactite is too far."
  • 7 of 21: In the other cave, Arok built a tool to improve his weapon against the lioness...
  • 8 of 21: ...perhaps Arok can also build a tool that will help here.
  • 9 of 21: Arok can use the "combining rock" on the higher part of the ledge to build a sort of slingshot.
  • 10 of 21: Place the leather on the "combining rock."
  • 11 of 21: What happens when you try to combine the ropes with the leather to make a slingshot?
  • 12 of 21: There are holes on one side of the leather, and it is easy to tie one piece of rope on...
  • 13 of 21: ...but we also need a way to fasten the other rope to the piece of leather.
  • 14 of 21: Good thing that someone left an awl-like tool lying here on this rock! 
  • 15 of 21: Use the tool on the leather to make two holes.  The holes will need to be on the left side of the leather.  Note:  The tip of the awl does not mark where the new holes will be made.  Use the tip of the mouse cursor, instead.
  • 16 of 21: Now use the other rope on the leather to make a sling.  Be sure to pick up the sling before leaving the rock.
  • 17 of 21: Go down to the spot where the bear was sleeping -- the stalactites are hanging from the ceiling just to the right of the rock pile.
  • 18 of 21: Use your sling on the "hot spots" on each of the stalactites, to get them to fall into the water, making stepping-stones.
  • 19 of 21: When you've used all of your stones, look down to the rock pile for more.
  • 20 of 21: You should be able to "drop" four stalactites, which is enough to get Arok to the island in the middle of the cave.
  • 21 of 21: From here, Arok will need to solve a couple of new puzzles to cross the remainder of the water.  But first, he needs to be able to look around.
