Echo: Secrets of the Lost Cavern Hints

What do I do with the painted bull and the musical stones?

  • 1 of 10: Once the bull painting has been restored, the second step is to animate it.  This is done by solving the musical stone puzzle.  Watch what happens to the bull painting when you strike the various stones with the hammer.
  • 2 of 10: Four of the stones cause each of the bull's legs to move.
  • 3 of 10: Do you recall how Arok animated the stag paintings in the earlier caves, to get across the water?  He needed to "help" the stags get into the proper positioning, so that they could bound into -- and out of -- the water.
  • 4 of 10: Perhaps there's a way Arok can help the bull move along on its way, too.
  • 5 of 10: While the bull will never be a good dancer, we might just manage to get his legs moving in a good enough order to get him on his way.
  • 6 of 10: Start by mentally identifying which of the four stones move which of the four legs.
  • 7 of 10: Now see if you can come up with an order of movement that seems as close to natural walking as possible.
  • 8 of 10: What you want to try to accomplish is to move the bull's right legs first -- front then back -- followed by the bull's left legs -- front then back.  The bull animates differently, depending on which set of stones you are using.
  • 9 of 10: The solution to this puzzle varies, depending on which set of stones you are using.
  • 10 of 10: If the stones are struck in the correct order, a second bull will appear from behind the first one.  You'll need to do a similar thing with the second bull.
