Echo: Secrets of the Lost Cavern Hints
I'm not sure which squares to flip; can you tell me?
of 10: To keep a clear reference to the squares in the puzzle, number them from 1-15, beginning with the upper left corner. The top row will be squares 1-5; the middle row will be squares 6-10; and the bottom row will be squares 11-15. All references in these hints will use those numbers.
of 10: The puzzle will need to be done all in black. So all squares that start out with red markings on them must be flipped.
of 10: This includes squares 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, and 15.
of 10: However, that's not all of the squares that will need to be flipped. There are also some blank squares that have black drawings on the back side. How can you tell which of the blank squares (if any) should be flipped?
of 10: The answer is in the completed drawing itself. As you work the puzzle, there is a faint image of the complete picture on the wall, behind the pieces that you are moving. This faint outline shows what the completed puzzle will look like.
of 10: It also serves as an excellent illustration of which squares will end up in which positions.
of 10: So after flipping all of the red squares, look carefully at the faint image in the background. Are there any pieces that can *NOT* be made from the black squares that you can currently see?
of 10: In fact, there are two squares of the faint image that do NOT show up in any of the current black tiles.
of 10: Two of the blank squares have black drawings on the back that exactly match the two "missing" squares needed to complete the picture.
of 10: In addition to flipping the 8 squares with red paint on them, you will also need to flip two blank squares -- 5 and 8.
