How can I counter Tuya's spells?
1 of 19: Every spell that Tuya casts has a counter-spell. The counter-spells are actually spells themselves.
2 of 19: The goal for this duel is for Maya to successfully counter all the spells cast on her by Tuya.
3 of 19: To accomplish this, you will need to be familiar with each of Tuya's spell, and know which of Maya's spells is a suitable counter-spell.
4 of 19: After Tuya casts a spell on Maya, Maya's life force will gradually drain until the correct counter-spell is used.
5 of 19: When Maya successfully counters Tuya's spell, Tuya will lose a chunk of her life force.
6 of 19: When the life force of either Tuya or Maya runs out, the duel ends.
7 of 19: You may have to go through the duel process several times -- but learn as you go! (And be thankful for the game's "restart" capability!)
8 of 19: The object is to get Tuya's life force extinguished before Maya's.
9 of 19: Listen carefully to each spell that Tuya casts. If you right click (to open the spell inventory) while she is speaking, you'll miss hearing about the spell that Tuya is casting. Don't worry, Maya won't lose any life while Tuya is still casting the spell.
10 of 19: While Tuya is casting a spell is also a good time to check your notes about which counter-spell to use.
11 of 19: In general, the counter-spells make some logical sense.
12 of 19: For example, to counter the Burn spell ("Burn, leave nothing but ashes"), use the Rain spell.
13 of 19: It is not possible to provide a step-by-step solution, since each duel can be completely different. But if you enter the duel knowing which counter-spell will work for each spell, you should have plenty of time to successfully complete the duel. Spoiler warning: all possible spells, and their counter-spells, are listed below. Do not read ahead, if you wish to try to solve this puzzle yourself.
14 of 19: As mentioned above, to counter the Burn spell ("Burn, leave nothing but ashes"), use the Rain spell.
15 of 19: To counter the Lotus spell ("I am the Lotus..."), use the Wedjat-Eye of Clairvoyance spell.
16 of 19: To counter the Magical Net spell ("Attendants of the cords...), use the Banner for Controlling the Wind spell.
17 of 19: To counter the Dead Souls spell ("Come ye, O dead souls..."), use the Cobra of Hypnosis spell.
18 of 19: To counter the Ka spell ("May the shadow of your Ka be surrounded..."), use the Magical Net spell.
19 of 19: To counter the Hypnosis spell ("May... Nekhbet turn you into stone."), use water from the Purification Vase.
