How do I get to the Stairs of Mists?
1 of 4: Walk to the mountain path which leads to the ancient City of Mists.
2 of 4: Look around the platform near the top of the path. There are things you can take there; don't miss the vase filled with water.
3 of 4: If you like, pull the broom handle (lever). Quickthorpe descends on the circular platform.
4 of 4: Apparently the elevator only allows him to go down, glance at the surroundings, and then go back up again --- at least at this stage of the game!
