Aboard the Balloon Ship

  • 1 of 17: You can't get here till you've got past the purple gargoyle.
  • 2 of 17: Look at, then board, the Balloon Ship.  Have a good look around. 
  • 3 of 17: There's nothing open, and nothing worth doing.
  • 4 of 17: You can't even question the cabin boy, so talk to the captain about any subject.
  • 5 of 17: Ask him whether his ship is seaworthy enough to take you to the Engulfed Fortress.
  • 6 of 17: "Too dangerous" he replies --- but for fifteen gold pieces he would agree. 
  • 7 of 17: The cabin boy overhears, so the captain shoves him away with a violent cuff to his head.
  • 8 of 17: You can try giving the captain all the money you've got but it will ~never~ be enough.
  • 9 of 17: Now you can talk to the cabin boy.  He tells you that the captain is absent-minded.
  • 10 of 17: Quickthorpe suggests that maybe he can downgrade the fares in the captain's books. 
  • 11 of 17: He's understandably terrified of the captain.
  • 12 of 17: Maybe you can persuade him somehow.
  • 13 of 17: He's used to being constantly ill treated; never kindly.
  • 14 of 17: How about giving him a gift, for a change?
  • 15 of 17: Something you took from the Small House.
  • 16 of 17: Give the poor lad a lollipop.
  • 17 of 17: The cabin boy's rewritten the fare down to only eight gold pieces.
