How do I get past the statue?

  • 1 of 18: Enter the Palace doors.
  • 2 of 18: There's a statue shooting out high-energy photon pulses from its eyes.  If you try to cross there, you'll get killed.
  • 3 of 18: Look at and then talk to the bird.  It's friendly and will give you a hint.
  • 4 of 18: You've got to turn the beam off or deflect it somehow.
  • 5 of 18: There's no switch or lever to turn it off.
  • 6 of 18: So you'd better find a way of deflecting the beam.
  • 7 of 18: You'll need something from inventory.
  • 8 of 18: Something you found at the Path of Sculptures.
  • 9 of 18: A shield maybe?
  • 10 of 18: It doesn't help.  Maybe because it's rusty.
  • 11 of 18: What rust remover have you got?
  • 12 of 18: None.  Maybe something else will polish it up.
  • 13 of 18: Possibly a scarf.
  • 14 of 18: From the bandit chief.  But you can only get it after you've taken his knife.
  • 15 of 18: Just using the scarf on the shield doesn't work.
  • 16 of 18: Look at the rusty shield in inventory and you get a Framed Picture.
  • 17 of 18: Use the bandit's scarf on the Framed Picture.  You've now got a polished shiny shield.
  • 18 of 18: Use the gleaming shield on Quickthorpe and the beam is reflected away.  He crosses unscathed.
