How can I begin my training at the Heroes' Guild?

  • 1 of 12: When you first start, you're still a little kid and have to pass a couple of simple melee combat tests before you can go on to be a real guild apprentice.
  • 2 of 12: As Whisper tells you, you need to see where the Guildmaster got to, since he's the one who's administering the tests.
  • 3 of 12: Since he isn't in the map room anymore, go outside and look around for the melee training ring.
  • 4 of 12: NOTE: The Guildmaster is marked by a pulsing yellow circle on the mini map to make finding him easier. You can either go straight there or explore around the guild first.
  • 5 of 12: When you talk to the Guildmaster, he'll put you in the ring with the dummy and tell you to hit it.
  • 6 of 12: Punch the dummy seven times (with or without using the Lock-On key), and the Guildmaster will decide to give you a stick to hit it with.
  • 7 of 12: Equip the stick with the Sword key and whack the dummy until it crumbles!
  • 8 of 12: After you collect your experience orb, several beetles will appear in the woods for your next melee test.
  • 9 of 12: Follow the Guildmaster, who will stop and stand near the exit to the woods.
  • 10 of 12: Enter the woods and run around to where the beetles are. (They're the red dots on the mini map.)
  • 11 of 12: Kill them all and nab experience orbs until the game says the quest is done and rewards you for it.
  • 12 of 12: Now return to the guild area to get some money from the Guildmaster plus the option to move on to the next stage of the game, in which you will become a teenage apprentice. (You can choose not to at first, then find the Guildmaster in the map room later and talk to him to get the option again.)
