Fable: The Lost Chapters Hints

Investigating the Mayor

  • 1 of 12: To start on this quest, go to Bowerstone North (only accessible after you finish the Gold Quest that has you fight in the Arena) and talk to the guy who's in the small jail cell that's next to the exit to the main Bowerstone Jail area.
  • 2 of 12: When you agree to help him investigate Lady Grey, he refers you to Rhodri, who he says hangs around in the Barrow Fields area.
  • 3 of 12: If you teleport to Barrow Fields and check the mini map for green dots, you'll find Rhodri down near the demon door.
  • 4 of 12: NOTE: You can't continue on this quest if you've finished the Mayor's Invitation quest, whether you married Lady Grey or not.
  • 5 of 12: Rhodri says that he signaled Amanda for a rendezvous in the Grey House cellar by flashing a lamp three times from the stable.
  • 6 of 12: You need to do the same in order to rendezvous with the ghost of Amanda and find out what happened (even if you already know from having previously raided the cellar).
  • 7 of 12: Go to the Grey House area and stand near the stable (the small empty building near the exit to Barrow Fields), then turn your lamp on and off real fast three times. It helps to put the lamp on the item quickbar and press its quick key six times in rapid succession.
  • 8 of 12: If you did it right, you'll immediately get a cut-scene of Amanda's ghost going down into the cellar. Follow her in.
  • 9 of 12: NOTE: See the Barrow Fields Notes and Extras if you have trouble getting into the cellar.
  • 10 of 12: After you speak to the ghost in a cut-scene, pick up the scrawled parchment from the floor if you haven't already done it on a previous visit. Another cut-scene will start in which Lady Grey shows up and makes you an offer that you can refuse.
  • 11 of 12: If you decide to cover up Lady Grey's murder of her sister, you'll have to prove yourself to her by fighting Thunder (see link below). Then you can go and marry her just like in the Mayor's Invitation quest.
  • 12 of 12: If you instead choose to expose Lady Grey's murderous ways, she'll make the usual threats and run off. You can then go to Bowerstone North and talk to the sheriff (the green-lit guard) and become the new mayor of Bowerstone yourself! That'll get you the same access to Bowerstone Manor that you'd have gotten by marrying Lady Grey. (You just miss out on the extra area in Headsman's Hill that you can only get to by fighting Thunder.)
