Fable: The Lost Chapters Hints
The Ransom Victim
1 of 12: This quest appears on the guild map table after you finish the Gold Quest called "The Prophets of the Fire Heart."
2 of 12: Teleport to Knothole Glade and talk to the chief down in the SW corner of town.
3 of 12: After the chief retires to his hut, his older son approaches you and asks that you deliver the boy to him instead of the chief.
4 of 12: TIP: You can go into the chief's hut and talk to him to get the option of taking his personal guard along with you if you think you need the help.
5 of 12: Head north out of town and go through Witchwood Lake to the Temple of Avo, and then to Witchwood Stones.
6 of 12: Run down to the demon door to find the bandits who have the boy.
7 of 12: When you go through the demon door, the leader will immediately demand that you pay the ransom.
8 of 12: If you do, that's the end of your bandit troubles for this quest, and you can just leave the demon door area and proceed back to Knothole Glade on foot. (If you teleport, the boy will be left behind.) You will encounter monsters along the trip back, but instead of bandits, they'll be the usual trolls, fairies, wasps, balverines, etc.
9 of 12: If you decide to keep the ransom money for yourself, the leader won't attack immediately, so you get in one free shot. Kill him and then take the boy outside. You'll be encountering mostly bandits and assassins on the way back to the Glade instead of other creatures.
10 of 12: However you free the boy, escort him all the way to Knothole Glade, fighting off all the hostiles you encounter on the way and using Heal Life to get the boy's health back up if it gets low. (Which it very well might, since the bandits and other creatures often go for him instead of you. Use Slow Time if that gives you too much trouble.)
11 of 12: When you reach the Glade, you'll have to decide who to turn the kid over to. If you want to do it the evil way and give him to his murderous older brother, head down the skinny path near the Witchwood Lake exit. (Check the mini map for a blue circle at the brother's location.)
12 of 12: Or you can be good and take the kid down to his father in the chief's hut in the SW corner of town (where you talked with the chief earlier). You can then also reveal the evil plans of the chief's eldest son in order to further protect the younger one.
