Fallout: New Vegas Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
Defeat Elijah.
of 9: As soon as you get this objective and the next one, decide whether you want to fight Father Elijah or run away. If you want to run away, switch to doing the "(Optional) Sneak out of the Vault's chamber area undetected, trapping ..." objective. (If you actually got that objective. If not, you can't do it.)
of 9: Stay inside the inner room with the door closed until you hear Christine say that she's blown up a couple of the turrets (if she's still alive). What you do then depends on how you prepared for this combat.
of 9: Look to the right of the vault door to find the vault turret terminal. If you got the password for it earlier (or if your Science skill is 100), you can use that terminal to reprogram the turrets to kill Father Elijah for you.
of 9: If you can't do that, shoot out the generator that's underneath the turret terminal while standing on the opposite side of the room. That should take out two turrets, though it doesn't always seem to work. You might want to quicksave before destroying the generator just in case.
of 9: Open the vault door and shoot out the turret that you can see a ways directly ahead of you. Use the indestructible glass to the right for cover if necessary. (Or if you're crouched and have the holorifle out when you open the door, you might be able to destroy the turret with one sneaky shot.)
of 9: Destroying that turret (and/or the turret generator) probably caused Father Elijah to drop the force field that's protecting him and join the fight. It depends on what level your character is. The higher-level you are, the more turrets you'll have to destroy before Elijah will come out. (You'll know he's coming out when he calls the turrets "pre-war junk.")
of 9: If you set a cluster of mines earlier at the base of the stairs he comes down, they'll probably kill him instantly.
of 9: If you didn't set the mines, you'll have to shoot him down yourself, using cover to dodge his powerful gauss rifle blasts and any remaining turrets. Try to focus on Elijah, since all remaining turrets will blow up soon after he dies.
of 9: If you have a stealth boy, you could crouch down and use it when Elijah joins the fight. Wait until your stealth indicator goes back to "[HIDDEN]," then sneak out of the inner chamber and over to where you can sneak-shoot Elijah in the head at close range. If that doesn't kill him, quickly go into V.A.T.S. mode and deal him some more head shots.
