Fallout: New Vegas Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
What all should I take with me to battle Ulysses?
1 of 5: First, note that you can actually talk him out of a fight if your Speech skill is 100 (or 90 if you have a high rep with the NCR, Caesar's Legion, or the Strip). If you want to do that and your Speech skill isn't high enough, go get all the skill books, skill magazines, and chems that can raise your Speech skill directly, or indirectly via a Charisma boost.
2 of 5: If you want to fight Ulysses, lots of stimpaks (both regular and auto-inject) are mandatory, as are chems that'll increase your damage (like psycho and slasher) and damage resistance (like med-x and slasher).
3 of 5: A couple of stealth boys would also be very useful.
4 of 5: As for weapons, take a silenced sniper rifle loaded with armor-piercing rounds, plus your favorite automatic weapon loaded with armor-piercing rounds.
5 of 5: And bring all the frag and plasma mines (and satchel charges) that you can carry. Setting a bunch of those up right before starting the combat will be tremendously helpful.
