Fallout: New Vegas Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
When should I do this add-on's quests?
of 10: The game advises you to be at least level 15, but I'd say level 20 to 25 would be better. This is a very tough add-on with lots of powerful new enemies.
of 10: As in the Honest Hearts add-on, enemies often appear out of nowhere, sometimes popping into existence right next to you. Also, the enemies in a particular area will usually respawn very quickly after being killed off, rather than waiting 3 to 5 days.
of 10: Many of those enemies are robotic in nature, so anything that does extra damage to robots would be very useful to have. A good supply of pulse mines and grenades is an obvious thing to bring along.
of 10: The Robotics Expert level-up perk would be great to have, since it gives you +25% damage vs. robots and allows you to deactivate them without a fight if you can sneak up on them. (Also, the glitch where you can deactivate robots even if your stealth indicator doesn't read "[HIDDEN]" seems to still be in effect.)
of 10: The Machine Head challenge perk is also a good one to have, since it'll give you a bit more damage vs. robots. There are supposedly three ranks to the perk, though it seems as if you can only get the first two. To do that, you'll have to "kill" a total of 100 robots.
of 10: Also bring along your most powerful automatic weapons and armor-piercing ammo. The unique minigun and a large supply of 5mm armor-piercing ammo would be ideal. Also bring a missile launcher and/or a scoped rifle for serious long-distance damage-dealing.
of 10: Not all enemies are robotic or armored. There are quite a few nightstalkers and lobotomites (humanoids) who are more vulnerable to hollow point ammo, so bring a lot of it, too.
of 10: NOTE: When I say to bring a large supply of ammo for your automatic weapons, I mean a *really* large supply. Three or four thousand rounds may sound like a lot, but it won't be nearly enough for a weapon that you plan to use frequently throughout the add-on. About 10,000 rounds each of two different types of ammo would be more like it.
of 10: Having a large supply of both med-x and slasher is a good idea, since using one of each will give you a temporary +50 DR, which greatly helps in tough combats. Also bring a few stealth boys for those combats you'd rather avoid.
of 10: It would also be good if your Energy Weapons, Science, and Lockpick skills were at least 50 each.
