Fallout: New Vegas Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints

Sink Central Intelligence Unit

  • 1 of 7: You can talk to the Sink Central Intelligence Unit (CIU) at any time to do merchant and repair business.
  • 2 of 7: The merchant interface is standard, and the usual currency of bottle caps is used for transactions. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to ever get any new inventory items or money, like most merchants in the Mojave Wasteland do. (NOTE: After installing and playing the Lonesome Road add-on, the CIU seems to be getting new stuff every few days like it should.)
  • 3 of 7: As for its repair services, they're expensive because it can repair anything up to 100% condition. You'll probably only want to pay it to "top off" any repairs you make, especially since a recent game patch prevents you from ever being able to get anything up to 100% condition on your own.
  • 4 of 7: Note that what you pay it for repair services will be added to the number of caps it has to buy stuff from you. If you keep using it to repair your gear, you can keep selling it stuff you don't want.
  • 5 of 7: After you restore any of the other local gadgets' personalities, you can tell the CIU to switch off the Sink's personality matrices. That'll cause all of the gadgets (other than the CIU) to offer basic service menus only, with no chatter or extra options. If you later want the personality matrices back on, talk to the CIU to get it done.
  • 6 of 7: After you get the four main computer upgrade holotapes, you'll be able to buy expensive mods from the CIU for the LAER and K9000 Cyberdog Gun weapons.
  • 7 of 7: If the CIU never gets any new items to sell, you'll only be able to get one of each mod. If that's the case, you'll probably want to put both mods for a weapon type on one particular weapon. Also, since the Elijah's Advanced LAER can be modded, you'll have to decide whether you want to use your two LAER mods on it or on a regular LAER.
