Fallout: New Vegas Hints
Return to Festus with enough Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Caps to earn a prize!
1 of 6: To get Festus' prize, you'll need to turn in 50 star bottle caps.
2 of 6: Every time you drink a bottle of Sunset Sarsaparilla, there's a 5% chance of getting a star cap instead of a regular cap. However, if you try quicksaving before drinking a bottle and quickrestoring over and over until you get a star cap from it, you'll soon run out of patience. (If you've saved up a huge number of sarsaparillas, you may want to quicksave, drink five or ten bottles and see if you get at least one star cap, then quickrestore if you don't.)
3 of 6: There are 103 non-random star caps scattered about the Mojave wasteland that you can find. See the list below for their locations.
5 of 6: After you get 50 or more star caps, return to Festus and deposit them all to hear a big long story and fail the quest. (There's no other way to end the quest.)
6 of 6: NOTE: If you had more than 50 star caps when you turned them in, the extras will be converted into regular bottle caps and given back to you. After you finish the "A Valuable Lesson" quest, any star caps you get will also transform into regular bottle caps.
