How can I prove that Orris is scamming me?
1 of 5: The most obvious way is to examine one of the thugs' bodies.
2 of 5: If your Medicine skill is 30 or higher, you'll learn that the thug is faking death.
3 of 5: If your Intelligence is 6 or higher, you can talk to Orris and choose the Intelligence-related option. (If your Speech is 50+, you can also extort some caps from him.)
4 of 5: The only other option that exposes the scam is to shoot one of the "dead" thugs to prove that he's not dead. That'll cause Orris and all four thugs to attack you, so make your starting thug attack as powerful as you can (like dynamite, or something else explosive). Also, pickpocket Orris' ammo before attacking a thug so he can't shoot you.
5 of 5: NOTE: That's a tough combat, especially if you don't have any followers or powerful weapons, but fighting Orris and his thugs either now or later is essential if you can't do the Medicine or Intelligence options now.
