What all dialogue options can get me his dogtag?
1 of 5: Mention that he's wearing an NCR dogtag, then ask if you can have it. You can if you pass a Speech 60 or Strength 7 check.
2 of 5: Or say there's an NCR soldier outside who wants you to kill him, then pass a Speech 50 check to get him to go after Astor. Follow him outside and over to where Astor and a few other troops are. They'll shoot him down, allowing you to loot his body to get his dogtag.
3 of 5: Another option is to ask why he's still there and tell him that the radscorpions are all gone. If you can pass a Speech 60 check, he'll go outside and be killed by three freshly-spawned giant radscorpions. You'll get bad karma, and you'll have to kill or dodge the scorps while looting Edwards' body.
4 of 5: One more option is to say there may be more radscorpions out there instead of lying to him, then agree to go take care of them. The same three giant radscorps will spawn, so go outside and kill them, then talk to Edwards again and tell him the scorps are gone. You can then ask for his dogtag to get it.
5 of 5: NOTE: Instead of asking for his dogtag at that point, you could say that he can join First Sergeant Astor, then agree to talk to Astor for him. Find Astor and talk to him about Edwards to get Speech 50 and Intelligence 7 checks. If you pass either one, you can tell Edwards the good news to get 50 caps and some good karma. However, you'll never be able to get his dogtag, which makes this quest impossible to finish. The same problem happens if you send him to a ranger station that Astor tells you about.
